Making it with the cartel

I would often zone out during Sons of Anarchy when they started mentioning 'the cartel'. For quite a long time I don't think I knew what they were talking about because I would never give the show my full attention. Then I did, and discovered what 'the cartel' was they were referring to, and also discovered it's a ridiculously brilliant show.

So I didn't know what Big Cartel was either, I thought it was something that grown up companies signed up for to sell their grown up company stuff. Well I am a grown up, and I have a company (sort of...). So I set up a shop with Big Cartel to sell my prints.

Due to some new found anxiety about money, I have been Googling like a lunatic about how much you can realistically make from selling prints online. It seems it's only pocket money, but also a great way to spread the word of your name.

I've considered venturing down the Society6 road, but I'm reluctant since an illustration collective called Puck had some of their art copyrighted on the site.  But I am mostly reluctant because I have to pay $1 to connect my paypal account and prove I'm a legit human bean. I'm poor, ok? I'll think about it. I've heard great things about them, including how it has a great network and community, so it's likely your work is going to get seen without putting too much work in. As well as they print your images on practically anything and sending it to the customer and taking a percentage.

But I like to make things hard (and cheap) for myself. So Big Cartel it is.

Please feel free to buy something and help me raise money for space camp (that's a lie, I actually just need to pay my water bill).

Bat For Lashes

The Bat For Lashes gig was amazing. I managed to snap a few not so amazing photos on my phone, and a short bit of the song 'Marilyn', which was the first song I heard from the new album.

For those of you who don't know about this band (who are from Brighton). Then YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THIS SONG, it's incredible, and probably the best song to have ever gone into my ears.

Also, instagram have introduced personal webpages now (good one Facebook), so here's the link to mine, follow me @ http://instagram.com/scarlettsometimes! I post a lot of crap on there that I'm sure you'd enjoy or hate and have something to complain about.

thank you winter

The best thing about Autumn/Winter is all my favourite shows come back. I'm completely overwhelmed by the insane amount of stuff I need to watch. I haven't even started Homeland or American Horror Story. Anyway, this is why I forgive winter.

I am such a dork for spending my Saturday night making that collage. Also, you'd never have known I studied Illustration at Uni, the skills I own are OUT OF THIS WORLD.

There is no doubt you will not enjoy each and every one of these shows. I'm starting to wonder if that sentence makes sense. I've been meticulously picking apart my first Creative Writing short story assignment, and it's turned my brain to a plate of baked beans.

So there, just don't be a fool and go out, it's way too cold. Stay in with cats and watch these shows and be a dork like me.

Escape to the Country

So I escaped Brighton and went to the country, a few times. Since this is the first summer I've been able to drive I've gone a bit bananas. To be fair these weren't very warm days, but the sun was out, so I was sold.

Leather jacket: Topshop / Fishermans Jumper: American Apparel / Leopard Mini Skirt: H&M / Boots: H&M / Jeans: Topshop / Shoes: Vans / Car: Peugeot :P

Firstly we went to Stanmer Park (which was a nightmare to park in on a Sunday, don't even bother. I was getting sweaty and angry and not enjoying the country), Then we went to Beachy Head in Eastbourne (famous for people commiting suicide off, but it's really pretty and there are tons of sheep there so I had a nice time).

And my chav car. No one ever lets me go cos they think I'm a twatty girl racer. He has evil eyes too.

I've also had my hair doned at the hairdressers, which is unheard of for me because I'm a home-dyeing all the way. This cost me £150 to get from black to ginger, not over the moon. It's washed out a lot since these photos were taken, so next blog I will take a before and after photo because I'm home dyeing it on Thursday. I used to think hairdressers could do all these magical things that you couldn't even begin to work out how to do at home, but this is not true. Hairdressers are not magical. They're fuckers.

skeleton museum

Today I walked about a million miles, I feel like I'm mash potato. I did however get a bus back, which was deeply traumatic, I don't do buses, this shows the extent of how insanely knackered I was.

Anyway, I have just enough energy left over to post these pictures from the skeleton museum that we went to today.

Seagulls eating bambi!!! Those horrible shitbags.

Going to die now kthanxbai.

French Market

Guess what's in the Brighton Chutney.

Some hideous rings, seriously, what the hell are they playing at.

Smoked garlic and tomatoes

I hate when people post pictures of shithole cupcakes, but now I have some of my own, I can see now how you can't eat them until you've taken at least 70 photos of them first.
